USCIS Extends FY 2025 H-1B Cap Registration Deadline to March 25 at Noon ET
USCIS is extending the registration deadline because of outages that affected the H-1B cap registration system. Employers and their immigration counsel will have more time to submit registrations for the FY 2025 H-1B cap selection lotteries. The original deadline was noon ET today.
The issue
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is extending the FY 2025 cap registration deadline to Monday, March 25, 2024 at noon ET, due to a recent systems outage that prevented users from completing the necessary steps to submit registrations for prospective H-1B beneficiaries. Throughout the FY 2025 H-1B cap registration period, which began on March 6, users of the registration system have experienced various technical glitches, culminating in the recent outage. The original registration deadline was noon ET on March 22.
USCIS still intends to notify employers by March 31, 2024 of beneficiaries selected in the H-1B cap lotteries.
What this means for employers and foreign nationals
Sponsoring employers should work with their immigration counsel to complete any outstanding registrations before the new deadline. As the close of registration nears, higher than normal volume is expected, which could cause further slowdowns and glitches.
